Etihad to Extend Codeshare with JetBlue, Add China Route | Business Travel News

Etihad Airways will expand its ongoing codeshare agreement with JetBlue to include flights between Abu Dhabi and Washington, D.C., beginning Sept. 15, according to the Middle East-based carrier. JetBlue also recently began to codeshare on Etihad flights between Abu Dhabi and each Chicago and New York, according to Etihad.

Etihad in August announced four additional weekly flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Abu Dhabi beginning Nov. 15, and those, too, will carry JetBlue’s code.

When the added JFK flights begin, Etihad also will have 12 additional destinations across the Gulf Cooperation Council—which includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates—and the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, according to an Etihad spokesperson.

Further, Etihad and JetBlue plan to offer reciprocal “earn and burn” benefits across both networks. The date for that loyalty alignment is pending.

In addition, Etihad will add a new route between Abu Dhabi and Guangzhou in China, set to begin Oct. 10 pending regulatory approval, the carrier announced Monday. It will operate twice weekly using a two-class Boeing 777 aircraft. The new route marks the third destination in China for Etihad. The carrier had resumed service to Shanghai in July 2020 and Beijing in June 2022, according to the airline.
