Aarya Babbar feels one should understand the body and its needs and workout accordingly

Bollywood or Pollywood, he has experienced both. Aarya Babbar has not one but four web series coming up. Happy to be living in a time when the performance matters and not the platform, he was recently seen in the short film, Bandh Tijori on Disney+Hotstar. His choice in health and fitness is also quite clear and simple. He doesn’t believe in following fad diets or workouts. It’s a personal matter and differs for everyone.

Fitness

Fitness means a healthy mind and a healthy body. That should be a reason for one to feel happy and relaxed when they workout.

Dietary needs

I have a simple diet that has a mix of fat, protein and carbs. My body is different than others and I enjoy the food that I eat.

Fitness accessories

I can’t do without my master bands. I do bodyweight and resistance bands workout.

Keeps me fit

I like to work on my core. I do cardio and I do weight training. I am not into weightlifting and all.

Day starts with

Black coffee.

Must-haves in diet

I can’t start my day without a mug of black coffee. I don’t advise it to others but I can’t do without it. My diet should have an equal amount of protein, carbs and vegetables. I usually do not have breakfast. In the evening I like having cheese or a black coffee with no sugar. At night I have salad or one roti or something.

Foods I can’t resist

I am a hardcore non-vegetarian, so it would be that.

Sports love

I love to run. I have it on my bucket list to run a marathon and I have been training for that. Because of Covid, it’s not happening.

Healthy mix

A good diet, a decent amount of workout and a happy mind together make a healthy person.

Lockdown findings

The lockdown has made me realise that health is mainly about diet. At the end of the day, it plays the most important part. Workout can happen but it has to be supplemented by diet. I have understood that a plant-based diet can also give me everything I need. And I have tried to stick to it.

The new routine

My new routine since the lockdown is doing a 20-30 minutes workout, no matter what. I don’t push myself too much because it’s the time to save yourself from injuries and not overdoing it. One has to just maintain the body. That’s enough for the current situation.

Cheat meal means

That would be a big pizza, ice-cream with a James Bond movie. I call it simply chilling.

Outdoor person

I am an outdoor person. I like to run for 8-9 km at a stretch. I like doing a fresh-air workout in the morning. I like trekking, jogging and all things that keep me close to nature.

Fitness on Instagram

I stalk Van Damme and Akshay Kumar. They are great inspiration and I look up to them.

On the bucket list

I think I want to achieve a certain type of body by the end of the day. I have some injuries and I want to take care of them. I want to be stronger in my muscles and bones. It’s not just the exterior but interior as well.

 A piece of advice

Don’t follow anyone. Follow yourself. Understand what you enjoy and do that. My body doesn’t respond to a lot of things. It responds to bodyweight workouts. If you understand your body, you will see results. If you are not enjoying your workout, then don’t do it. It’s like dating or getting married to someone you don’t like. Don’t date or get married to someone you don’t like. It’s simple. —TNS
