Actress Richa Rathore who plays the role of Aalya in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya on Zing, gets candid with us about life and work

What made you accept this role in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya?

When I read the script I liked the character, it was very bubbly and chirpy. When I auditioned for this show, my previous show’s last episode was about to air. And I took up the opportunity.

Could you share details about the character?

I am playing the character of Aalya, who is a 19-year-old fun loving girl. She is in a relationship with a boy. They have a common friend circle and their parents also know about it. But then, there is a twist in the story and it becomes complicated.

What’s your personal take on love as today’s generation has a different view?

I am very old school. I don’t enjoy dating. If I like someone, then I will get married. For me, love is ‘love with one person’ who will be my soulmate.

When you work on a character, do you follow the director’s call or give your inputs as well?

Both of these, unless we are doing a workshop. We get the story and the next day we shoot, so we don’t get time to do research. So spontaneously if we think, we can add up to the role. Otherwise, I am a director’s actor.

You have shot during the pandemic and also travelled from Mumbai to Goa for shoot. How was the experience?

When Covid began, there were a lot of cases at that time. There was fear plus we were away from family. It was scary. But during the shoot, the production team had taken all precaution and followed the protocol strictly. That’s how we sailed through that situation.

What made you pick acting as a career?

In 2016, my first project was a music video, Shimla Ka Ghar. During college days, I auditioned for Imtiaz Ali’s film Tamasha and did a cameo in it. Imtiaz sir was in front of me and directing, that time only I decided that I wanted to be an actor.

How did your family react to your professional decision?

My parents have given me total freedom in life. I have done my engineering and then did a job and quit my job for acting. They just say, whatever you do, give your 100 per cent. I am the only actor in the family and happy that I am able to make my parents proud.

Chandigarh has become a go to destination for shoots. Have you shot for any project in the city?

I have not only been to Chandigarh but have also worked for two years at Mohali. Chandigarh is my second home. I love the parks there. It’s a beautiful city.

What’s your forthcoming projects?

There are things in the pipeline but as of now, I won’t be able to confirm.
