If you’re looking for an alternative to Apple AirPods Pro, the Sony WF-1000XM4 were always a brilliant choice. We adore these lightweight noise-cancelling buds for their brilliant audio quality and superb battery life.
However, in our Sony WF-1000XM4 review, we bemoaned the high price tag for UK shoppers. Thankfully, one of the best Amazon Prime Day deals has just solved that headache with a huge discount.
Usually, these earbuds – which work with iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets – will set you back a steep £250. That’s a tough pill to swallow for someone, especially with so much competition around wireless earbuds.
You can currently buy the Sony WF-1000XM4s for just £149 – that’s the cheapest price tag ever for these AirPods Pro rivals.
In our Sony WF-1000XM4 review, we heaped praise on the audio quality that’s packed with detail, rich bass, and crystal-clear highs. Other audio features worth a mention include full compatibility with stunning High-Resolution Audio music tracks and there’s a technology inside called Digital Sound Enhancement Engine, which upscales compressed digital music files in real-time to make everything sound better.
When you head into a coffee shop to buy your morning brew, the WF-1000XM4 feature Sony’s Speak-to-Chat technology which cuts off the sound the minute the earbuds hear your voice.
That means you can talk to people and hear their responses without needing to take the buds out of your ears.
If you love listening to endless playlists, then these new buds have around eight hours of battery life with a total of 24-hours available via the charging case. That’s impressive as many of Sony’s rivals, including Apple’s AirPods, only last for around 5 hours before needing a refill.
There’s also another nice boost as a quick 5-minute quick charge gives you up to 60 minutes of playtime. As you might expect, the WF-1000XM4 are fully compatible with Alexa and Google’s Assistant plus they should survive the British weather thanks to an IPX4 water resistance rating.
One of the downside to the WF-1000XM4s is the size of the charging case and the earbuds.
Sony has worked hard to make its new buds more pocket friendly and has somehow managed to shave 40 percent of the plastic away from this latest product but its still a sizable product to put in your pocket. Although this box is now smaller, the actual buds are still pretty chunky and once plugged into your ears they aren’t at all subtle.
It’s not the end of the world and if you want clear and crisp sound with amazing noise-cancelling, the WF-1000XM4s are the way to go.
