Android 12 will force all apps to have the same sharing menu: Report – Times of India

Google will no longer allow third party apps to have their own sharing menu– the one that appears the moment you hit the share button and allow you to share images, videos, links or other content. This means all apps will have the same Android Sharesheet unlike in Android 11 where different apps offer different sharing menus. As per a report by
XDA Developers, “In Android 12, Google no longer allows third-party apps to set themselves as the default share sheet.”

Responding to a ticket raised by the developer of Sharedr– the app that ‘improves sharing on Android’, a Google represent said, “We had never actually intended to allow apps to replace the share dialog, that Intent is for apps to launch the share dialog. Being able to replace the share dialog is also becoming increasingly impossible — you couldn’t implement the direct share part of the UI, nor the personal vs. work profile tabs in R, etc. This is just not something that is feasible to allow apps to replace.”

Google has recently announced the Android 12 operating system. The beta version of the OS is available for phones from 11 brands including Vivo, OnePlus, Oppo, OnePlus, Pixel and others. Android 12 operating system will completely change the look of the Android phone with the new Material You UI design. The interface comes with new colour options, animations, tile designs and more.

Beyond Light and Dark mode, Google is making Android phones look more personal with the kind of wallpaper you use. With Android 12 on Pixel devices, you will be able to completely personalize your phone with a custom color palette and redesigned widgets. With call colour extraction, you choose your wallpaper, and the system automatically determines which colors are dominant, which ones are complementary and which ones just look great. It then applies those colors across the entire OS: the notification shade, the lock screen, the volume controls, new widgets and more.
