Apple may change the Hey Siri activation command, here’s how – Times of India

Apple is said to be working on a new project which is said to update the Siri experience. According to a report by Bloomberg Apple may simplify the ‘Hey Siri‘ trigger word. The company may reportedly switch to only ‘Siri’ trigger word to launch the virtual assistant.
As reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is said to remove ‘hey’ from the trigger phrase making it easier for the users to give commands by just saying ‘Siri’. It might appear as a small change but as per the report, it requires a lot of engineering and artificial intelligence (AI) training.
“The company is working on an initiative to drop the ”Hey” in the trigger phrase so that a user only needs to say “Siri”—along with a command. While that might seem like a small change, making the switch is a technical challenge that requires a significant amount of AI training and underlying engineering work,” added the report.
The report further adds that Apple may roll out the change by either next year or by 2024. Apart from this, Apple is also working on integrating Siri into third-party apps for better assistance to users.
“By removing the “Hey” in “Hey Siri,” Apple would also, in turn, speed up back-to-back requests. The company has recently made a few other tweaks to Siri, including redesigning the interface on the Apple TV as part of tvOS 16.1,” mentions the report.
Recently, it introduced a complete Siri redesign on Apple TV. With the latest update, users can recognise each user’s voice so that they can easily access their movies, music, games apps and more. By using the Siri Remote and asking “What should I watch?” users can get tailored recommendations. The more compact design of Siri on Apple TV allows users to quickly view results without leaving the action on screen.
