Karthik hailed Woakes’s impact in the series.

“Woakes, for me, is such an interesting cricketer because he doesn’t get picked much but when he does, he makes such a massive difference. His seam position in this Test has been the best of all the bowlers that have bowled. I think he has been fabulous,” the India keeper said.

In the ongoing Test match at Manchester, Woakes picked 5 wickets in the first innings, dismissing David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Cameron Green, Alex Carey and Josh Hazlewood. The pacer was not able to contribute with the bat in the first innings but was once again impressive with the ball on Day 3 of the game. Woakes bowled 9 overs, took 4 maidens and picked 1 wicket by giving away just 18 runs before the end of day’s play.
