Asus has unveiled the new ROG Phone 6 series – ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro – in India. The ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro come with the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The ROG Phone series aims at mobile gamers with top-end hardware, software customisations and bold design.

The ROG Phone 6 is priced in India at Rs 71,999 for the lone 12GB+256GB storage configuration. Meanwhile, the single 18GB+512GB storage variant of the ROG Phone 6 Pro comes at Rs 89,999. There is no word on the availability of the ROG Phone 6 series in India.

The ROG Phone 6 series – ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro – features a 6.78-inch E5 Samsung AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 165Hz and a touch sampling rate of 720Hz. The AMOLED panel on the ROG Phone 6 series offers a peak brightness of 1200 nits and also comes with support for HDR10+ playback. Furthermore, the display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Also, both the models are IPX4 splash resistant.
Under the hood, both the ROG Phone 6 models are powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The new GameCool 6 cooling system claims to reduce the CPU temperature by 10 degrees celsius. Moreover, the ROG Phone 6 series comes with the PixelWorks i6 co-processor for display. The ROG Phone 6 series boasts a 6000mAh battery split into two halves of 3000mAh, supporting 65W fast charging. However, Asus is giving a 30W adapter inside the retail packaging in India.
Asus’ new ROG Phone 6 series runs Android 12 with an option to choose between ROG UI and Zen UI. The company is promising two Android updates with at least two years of security updates.
The ROG Phone 6 series comes with the programmable AirTrigger ultrasonic buttons on the right end of the chassis and even on the back of the phone. You can use these buttons as a controller in supported games.
There is not much difference between the ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro. First, the ROG Phone 6 Pro comes with 18GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage, while the vanilla ROG Phone 6 comes in a 12GB+256GB storage configuration. Also, the ROG Phone 6 Pro has a PMOLED ROG Vision display on the back, while the vanilla model only has an illuminated logo.
Coming to the optics department, the ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro comes with a triple-camera setup comprising a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide snapper and a macro camera. On the front, the smartphone has a 13MP IMX663 sensor for selfies. The rear camera setup can record videos at up to 8K at 24 fps.
Asus has also introduced a newer version of the AeroActive cooler and ROG Kunai gamepad for the ROG Phone 6 series. The company has also unveiled the new ROG Cetra True Wireless and Cetra True Wireless Pro earbuds, but they will not be available in India.
