Baal Aadhaar Biometric update: Why it is important and how to do it – Times of India

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has issued guidelines for Baal Aadhaar. As per the new guidelines posted on Twitter, it is mandatory for Baal Adhaar to update biometric information. That means, children attaining the age of 5 and 15 years will have to update their biometric information.
What is Baal Aadhaar and why updating biometric information is important?
For those unaware, Baal Aadhaar is the Aadhaar card for children under the age of 5 years. The Baal Aadhaar is Blue in colour and that’s what differentiates it from the regular Aadhaar card. Also, Baal Aadhar does not include biometric information and parents do not require to present biometric information to enrol for Baal Aadhar for their children. Once the child reaches the age of five it is mandatory to update biometric information in the Baal Aadhaar, or else the Aadhaar card becomes invalid.
How to update biometric information in Baal Aadhaar
To update Baal Aadhaar biometric information, users will need to book an appointment and then visit the Aadhaar centre with all the necessary documents.
