Babar Azam only scores for himself, Pakistan need to learn from India: Danish Kaneria | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: A livid Danish Kaneria lashed out at the Pakistan cricket team for their mediocre performance in the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand, which the hosts lost 2-1. Kaneria pointed out a series of issues ailing the team, including the performance of their skipper Babar Azam and also compared the Pakistan team to the current Indian team, who have already wrapped up an ODI series win against the Kiwis within the first two matches of the 3 game series.
Hitting out at Babar, the former Pakistan leg-spinner Kaneria said that the skipper looks out only for himself and his runs doesn’t help the team at all.
“We heavily depend on Babar Azam in all three formats, and he only scores for himself. Babar Azam continues to score his own 50-60 runs and the team doesn’t benefit from that at all, and it’s just causing losses. Babar never scores for the team’s cause,” Kaneria said on his YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, as India took an unassailable 2-0 lead against the same Kiwi side that defeated Pakistan in their own backyard, Kaneria was all praise for the Rohit Sharma-led side, pointing out that India have been able to use their home conditions to good effect, something Pakistan couldn’t really do.

India scored 349 in the series opener where Shubman Gill smashed a double ton while in the second game, followed by the bowlers wreaking havoc, bundling out the Kiwis for a paltry 108.

“Did we (Pakistan) make any big score of note in the ODIs? Did anyone score double hundred? Was there any dominant performance? No. We need to realize all this and learn from other countries like India who are exploiting their conditions. But here we are afraid of getting exposed in our own conditions,” Kaneria said.
In the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, Pakistan failed to cross 300 even once and were also bowled out for 182 while chasing in the second game.
“We don’t have a bowler of Shoaib Akhter’s calibre who threatens to take wickets all the time. We don’t have imposing openers like Saeed Anwar, Aamir Sohail, Imran Farhat, Taufeeq Umar, and Salman Butt. Our middle order used to be packed with the likes of Mohammad Yousuf, Younis Khan and Inzamam-ul-Haq. We had a great all-rounder in Abdul Razzaq. Teams used to fear us in the ODIs, but it’s not the case anymore,” Kaneria added.
