Athletics New Zealand says Connor Bell has broken the New Zealand men’s discus record with a throw of 66.14 metres.

The 21-year-old made the throw in Hastings this evening, breaking the previous record set by Ian Winchester 21 years ago by 1 metre and 11 centimetres.

Athletics New Zealand said the record is yet to be ratified.

Bell has previously taken the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games title and the 2018 Youth Olympic Games gold medal.
