British Airways, Airlink to Launch Codeshare

British Airways and South African airline Airlink have signed a codeshare agreement that will “improve connectivity” to more than 15 destinations in southern Africa, BA announced Wednesday. Codeshare tickets are currently for sale for travel from Feb. 15.

Through the agreement, British Airways customers traveling from or through London will be able to connect to their final destination via Cape Town or Johannesburg on a single ticket, according to the carrier. Members of BA’s Executive Club loyalty program can earn Avios—the program’s currency—on Airlink flights on BA codeshare trips.

A total of 18 destinations are available as codeshare flights when traveling from London’s Heathrow via Johannesburg or Cape Town.

Airlink has hubs in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban in South Africa and offers service to 13 other countries including Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia, according to BA.
