CBSE directs schools to upload LOC to avoid mistakes – Times of India

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed the schools to upload the list of candidates (LOC) eligible to appear in board exams for that academic session on the e-Pariksha portal. The direction is aimed to avoid any mistakes or incorrect information. While schools in tier-I and II cities generally do not face issues in completing this, the schools in tier-III and rural areas repeatedly face problems, which causes a delay in the task at hand.

Sanyam Bhardwaj, controller of examinations, CBSE, says that there has been a delay by the schools to update the list and upload it. “Few schools have made technology a convenient excuse for being late in completing the exercise of uploading the LOC on the e-Pariksha portal. Other reasons we frequently encounter are a paucity of time and disrupted internet connectivity,” he says.

While elite schools understand CBSE guidelines related to uploading LOC easily, few schools are inept in this regard. “Over the past couple of years, CBSE has started issuing detailed guidelines so that all schools are able to fulfil this duty and do not suffer due to lack of understanding. We have noticed that this has brought about an improvement in the exercise,” says Bhardwaj.

Schools need to ensure that the LOC has correct details of all eligible candidates, says Bhardwaj. “An incorrect entry from the school’s side will bring about a discrepancy in the student’s data for life,” he says. For example, if all documents spell the student’s name in one way but the school marksheet claims another spelling, this will be a point of contention forever,” he adds.

While the process for submission of the LOC for classes X and XII board exam candidates has been started from September 17, 2021, the last date to submit it without any late fee is September 30, 2021 and the last date to pay the fee is October 1, 2021.

As per the notification issued by CBSE, all 25600 CBSE affiliated schools have been advised to make timely submission of the LOC. Since the CBSE Term I board exams 2022 are scheduled to be conducted in November-December 2021, schools have been asked to expedite the process of uploading the LOC online.

Schools have also been requested to chalk out a timeline and make efforts to submit accurate information of their eligible students. The CBSE notification also states that there will be no window for correction of students’ data submitted by schools.

Schools will be required to pay a fee of Rs 1,500 for every Indian student for five subjects. The fee for overseas schools is Rs 10,000. A late fee of Rs 2,000 will be charged if the LOC is submitted by October 9, 2021, which can be paid up to October 10, 2021.
