Chrome: Google to use Android feature to make Chrome faster on Windows, macOS and Linux – Times of India

Google is going to make the popular Chrome web browser faster with the Chrome 92 update by using “back forward cache”, something it already uses in its Android Chrome browser, as per a report by Windows Latest. The feature on Chrome Android browser allows pages to load instantaneously when using the backward or forward button. The Chrome 92 update is supposed to make the browser on Windows, macOS and Linux faster with a default back forward cache support for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Google has been testing this feature to help load previously opened pages faster when users click on the forward or backward button. With this feature, when users go back to a previously opened page, it should open immediately, without taking any time to load. In other words, the previously opened tab is kind of kept alive by the browser to reduce the loading time drastically. The back forward cache feature caches the whole page, thus helping the web browser to restore them instantly.
“Back-forward cache is a browser feature which improves the user experience by keeping a page alive after the user navigates away from it and reuses it for session history navigation (browser back/forward buttons, history.back(), etc) to make the navigation instant. The pages in the cache are frozen and do not run any javascript,” said Google in a document.
Google is planning to roll the feature out gradually across desktop platforms over the coming months, said the report. The Chrome 92 update will see the experimental rollout of the feature on desktop.
