Clubhouse expanding its new Android app, to launch in India this week – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Audio-only social networking app Clubhouse landed on Android recently. However, the app was limited to users in the US. The popular app is now set to roll out to more countries including India this week.
The app will be available in India, Brazil, Nigeria, Russia and Japan by this Friday. Making the official announcement, Clubhouse tweeted, “Android rollout continues! Japan, Brazil & Russia coming Tuesday ???? Nigeria & India on Friday AM ? Rest of world throughout the week, and available worldwide by Friday afternoon.”

Initially for the first year Clubhouse was available only on iOS. Despite limited access, the app managed to grab 10 million users in the first year.
The voice-based social network valued $4 billion in the recent fundraiser. The app gained a lot of popularity last year and is used by several high-profile celebrities, investors, politicians and entrepreneurs. Clubhouse started working on the Android version of the app earlier this year and started the beta testing this month.
Various online reports suggest that Clubhouse decided to expand to the Android platform in order to maintain its growth. The app has been struggling to maintain a growth pace in recent months.
Presently, the Android app of Clubhouse lacks a number of features. For instance, users cannot follow a topic, create or manage a club, make payments or link their social profiles. However, the company said that it is working on bringing the iOS features to the Android version of the app.
For those unaware, Clubhouse is a voice-based audio-only social media app. Once you’re in the Clubhouse you can drop in and out of different chats depending on your areas of interest. You have the choice to pipe in with your thoughts or simply just listen in to what’s happening around various rooms.
