Cody Rhodes reacts to winning the WWE Moment Of The Year ESPY: I’m very excited

Cody Rhodes took to Instagram to share a video to express his excitement at winning the 2022 WWE Moment Of The Year ESPY for his return to the company at WrestleMania 38.

Rhodes came back to WWE in April of this year on Night 1 of WrestleMania and squared off against Seth Rollins in what many consider as the match of the night. Despite a valiant effort from Rollins, The American Nightmare emerged victorious on the night.

On 20th July, Rhodes was awarded the WWE Moment Of The Year ESPY and became the fourth WWE Superstar after Roman Reigns, Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair.

Speaking to fans through a video he posted on his official Instagram profile, The American Nightmare expressed his happiness at winning the award. He thanked the fans for voting for him and also thanked the WWE Universe for welcoming him back at WrestleMania with open arms.

“I’m very excited to be holding the WWE Moment of the Year ESPY. It is official. Have to thank WWE and ESPN and most importantly, pro wrestling fans in the WWE Universe who voted on this. In our world of smoking mirrors, perception can be reality. But reality, these days can be reality as well. We know what feels good, what we like, and what moment absolutely is very special. To be at this event in general and to win this ESPY and to have this.”

“I know my mom will be very excited. I haven’t been back with WWE for even a full year at this point. I mean, not too long ago, I was waking up as the executive vice president of another promotion and a partner creator in it. And the moment that wasn’t the case anymore, and I started negotiations on returning, everyone kept saying the same thing. Home, they kept calling it. Are you coming back home, and it’s going to be so good to be home and welcome home. And it was very wistful feeling hearing that term, and I wanted to see if the actions would match those words. And in WrestleMania, I found out 100%. They certainly did. And I am blessed for that. But more importantly, that the fans of what we do, pro wrestling fans, WWE Universe, open their arms and their hearts. My return to the company,” said Rhodes.

The American Nightmare, who is currently sidelined after surgery, admitted that he didn’t comeback to WWE to win an ESPY and hinted that he would be aiming for the top titles in the company.

“And with that in mind, I have to say this. As beautiful, wonderful as it is, it’s not the chip I came back to WWE to get. So when I do come back, hopefully ahead of schedule, I’m looking for something else. And I think it might bring me 2023 ESPY for WWE moment of the year. Again, I want to dedicate this to the women in my life. My mom, the Cuban nightmare, Michelle, who I’m far more like than anybody else. My sister, Thiel, my wife, Brandy, who’s out there right now the most beautiful thing on Earth, and the great granddaughter of a plumber. Liberty, this one’s for you. And hopefully for pro-wrestling. WWE Universe. See you soon. Bye,” said Rhodes.
