Computex 2021: Intel announces new 11th Generation-core processors, its first 5G module for PCs – Times of India

Technology company Intel has launched two new 11th-gen U-Series chips to be used in thin, lightweight laptops. The company launched these processors at Computex 2021.
These chipsets feature company’s proprietary Iris Xe graphics. The top end CPU is a Core i7-1195G7, which has a single-core turbo speed of up to 5GHz. Apart from this, there is a Core i5-1155G7 which is rated to run at up to 4.5GHz. The two chipsets have 12-28W configurable TDP targets.
In a press stamens, Intel said that over 60 models based on the Intel Core i7-1195G7 and Intel Core i5-1155G7 are expected by this holiday season, with laptops from Acer, Asus, Lenovo and MSI available this summer. Further, nearly 250 designs powered by 11th Gen Intel Core U-series processors are expected by this holiday season.
Along with these chipsets, Intel also announced its first 5G M.2 module called the “5G Solution 5000” for laptops, designed in a partnership with MediaTek and Fibocom.
The company claims that its 5G Solution 5000 delivers nearly five-times speed increases over Intel Gigabit Long-Term Evolution (LTE).
Brands including Acer, Asus and HP are among the first OEMs expected this year to enable modern connected laptops with the Intel 5G Solution 5000 based on 11th Gen Intel Core U- and H-series processors.
“We’ve taken the world’s best processor for thin-and-light Windows laptops and made the experience even better with the addition of our two new 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel® Iris Xe graphics. In addition, we know real-world performance and connectivity are vital to our partners and the people who rely on PCs every day, so we’re continuing that momentum with more platform capabilities and choice in the market with the launch of our first 5G product for PCs: the Intel 5G Solution 5000,” said Chris Walker, Intel corporate vice president and general manager of Mobility Client Platforms
