Covid infected students to get CBSE board results 2022 based on Term 1 performance – Times of India

In the wake of few queries regarding students’ eligibility for compartment exams if unable to appear for Term 2 board exams, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made certain clarifications. The board specified details about Term-II board exam results, eligibility for compartment exams and the way forward if any student gets infected at this time.

Sanyam Bhardwaj, controller of examinations, CBSE, says, “Considering the uncertain situation due to a resurge of Covid-19, if any student is unable to appear for the class X/XII Term-II board exams due to Coronavirus infection, the board will consider their Term-I performance for declaring the final result accordingly.

This route is also valid for students who may have to participate in any national/international level sports tournaments at this time, he adds.

However, to be eligible in either of these two cases, students will need to intimate the board with their Covid report if suffering from it. Also, endorsement from appropriate authority is needed well in advance if the student is participating in any sports, says Bhardwaj.

Clarifying the situation related to students’ eligibility for compartment exams, he says, students can appear for compartment exams only in case they are placed in the compartment category. He says, “For class X, the board allows students to appear for compartment exams in any two subjects. Since the board creates an exam schedule to ensure that no two subjects in which a student needs to reappear for the exam falls on the same day, these exams are held across a period of five to seven days.”

For class XII, students can appear for a compartment exam in only one subject. “Thus, all compartment exams for class XII students are held on one day,” says Bhardwaj.

Thus, if a student is unable to qualify more than one subject in class XII and more than two subjects in class X, he/she cannot appear in the compartment exams. In such a case, they will be given an opportunity only next year during the main exams, where an extended date sheet is prepared, says Bhardwaj.

It was also informed by him that CBSE has made elaborate arrangements to avoid the spread of Covid and thus exam centres have been given required funds.
