delhi police: Parents, Delhi Police has these dos and don’ts for online safety of your children – Times of India

In the last few years, technology has become an intergral and imperative part of our lives. And as the tech seeped deep inside our lives, young children too now have access to the internet via smartphones and laptops/tablets. The Pandemic further added to the dependence on internet and gadgets as everything from school to entertainment moved online. However, while it is no longer possible to keep kids away from gadgets, it is important that that they are made aware of the dangers of the internet and taught how to protect themselves. Delhi Police recently shared some dos and don’ts of Netiquettes for children and parents. These urge the parents to talk to their children about online safely and behaviour while giving access to technology. Here’s what the Delhi Police advises:
– Teach children about protecting their privacy
– Don’t share numbers, addresses or any such details
– Never agree to meet online friends
– Never click pop-ups and ads
– Never share passwords
– Do not allow children to shop online, unsupervised
– Tell your parents if you see something inappropriate or somebody talks to you inappropriately
– Be kind on the internet and not share content which can hurt someone or is against the law.
