Donald Trump is back on Twitter, confirms Elon Musk – Times of India

Minutes after Musk’s tweet, Trump’s Twitter account was visible and showing not suspended. In fact, all this tweets — including the misleading ones — are also now back on Twitter.

Why was Trump banned from Twitter

On January 6, 2021, Trump had tweeted, “The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!”.
This was days before US president Joe Biden was supposed to be sworn in. “After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” Twitter had said in a blog post.

It was always going to happen under Musk

Musk has been pretty vocal even when he hadn’t bought Twitter about Trump’s ban. He had said that he wouldn’t have suspended Trump in the first place. Ever since taking over Twitter, Musk initially said that he will not be brining back any banned accounts. This was less than 10 days ago. However, on November 19, he started running a poll on Twitter. Musk in a tweet said that 134 million people had seen the poll on Twitter. Close to 15 million people voted in the poll with 51.8% in favour of reinstating Trump’s account.
Trump’s comeback on Twitter was always a matter of time under Musk. He had dropped plenty of hints about reinstating the former US president and now it has officially happened.
