eBay DOWN: Auction site not working with ’embarrassing’ error message displayed

If you’re trying and failing to access eBay this morning, it seems you are not alone. Hundreds of users are complaining that the popular auction site is offline and not working. Some fans of the service can’t access the site or app whilst others are seeing an error message which says, “Well this is embarrassing. We’re sorry, but this page isn’t loading right now. Please try again later.”

It seems most of the issues are affecting sellers attempting to access and view their listings.

Independent tracking website DownDetector, which monitors mentions across social media to track when web services are offline, is suggesting that hundreds of eBay users are currently experiencing the outage. In fact, at the time of writing, there are some 900 complaints that users can’t access the site.

Users have now taken to DownDector’s forum page to complain about the gremlins which are stopping some from selling their products.

One frustrated eBay seller said: “Definite issues! My selling page to edit stock listings etc is down currently. Hope they fix it promptly for all of us that are being affected as have more stock to add.”

Whilst another added: “Had a few items ending this morning with multiple watchers and haven’t sold because no one can get online! Now I’ve lost out on the 80% off selling fees because of this. Ridiculous!”

There’s no word on what is causing the issues or when it will be fixed although one user has said that simply logging out of the account and logging back in clears the problem.

Along with mentions on Down Detector, Twitter is also full of complaints with sellers facing similar problems.

One tweet said: @eBay has gone down and I have listings ending with lots of watchers on! I guess they will all go unsold now?

Another added: “I was adding tracking # ‘s to several packages when page got weird. Now none of my unsold or sold items are visible.
