Eijaz Khan, a popular face in the TV space, says every platform has its own unique flavour. Here’s a candid chat with the actor…

You have done television, films and OTT. Which medium have you enjoyed the most and why?

I guess my loyalties will always lie with television because I started off from there. I learnt everything there. Every platform has its own unique flavour for an actor. It’ll be very difficult for me to pick one and say this is the one that I enjoyed the most. I guess the latest thing that is exciting me is the OTT platform because there are so many characters to be explored.

What are your learnings from shooting a daily soap back in the day?

Back then, I think the times were very different. Those were times when we had to shoot for long hours. I think in recent times, shoots don’t go on for days. The one thing that I learnt is that there is no substitute for hard work. There is no shortcut. You must put in long hours even if you have the talent.

TV content has progressed considerably. Any comments?

Now, there are new producers that have a very different outlook towards daily soaps and that is exciting. Some of them are my best friends; Nivedita Basu and Sandeep Sikand, to name a few. They are trying to make a difference and I am looking forward to working with all of them.

How did Bigg Boss affect your career?

In Bigg Boss you can’t really act, so I guess people got to know the real me. I don’t think it has changed my career because I don’t think I am going to pursue reality TV shows as a career option.

What makes Eijaz Khan happy?

Some peace of mind and a good night’s sleep;waking up in the morning, watering my plants, smiling and love!

How do you unwind after a hard day’s work?

There are different things. I could go for a jog, ride a cycle or a bike, swim, have a good bowl of soup or just watch some movie.

What are the two changes you’ve noticed in the industry?

There is brilliant competition and the professionalism has gone up. Unfortunately, with that the personal equations have come down.
