Elon Musk gets trolled violently for bad-mouthing GTA VI, saying violent video games are bad

Elon Musk is an avid gamer himself and is a massive fan of Elden Ring III. However, it seems the Tesla CEO and owner of X is not that big a fan of the Grand Theft Auto franchise. His posts on GTA V making him uncomfortable has drawn a lot of flak from his followers

The highly anticipated trailer for the latest instalment in the widely popular Grand Theft Auto video game franchise has been triggering a frenzy of excitement across the internet.

However, one notable figure not sharing the enthusiasm is Tesla CEO, owner of X and an avid gamer himself, Elon Musk.

In a tweet, Musk expressed his lack of excitement for the game, citing his aversion to the criminal activities depicted. He mentioned his discomfort with the opening scene of GTA V, which involves shooting police officers, stating that he “just couldn’t do it.”

This commentary, seen as a significant double standard given Musk’s past affinity for violent games like Quake, prompted a wave of mocking responses on social media.

One user humorously inquired if Musk adhered to traffic laws and stopped at red lights within the game. Others pointed out the irony of Musk, at 52 years old, objecting to video games involving violence while acknowledging his history of playing such games.

Despite Musk’s claim of disliking crime in video games, he has a long-standing history of involvement in the gaming world. He created a game called Blastar at the age of 13 and sold it to a magazine.

Musk has openly expressed his love for violent games, including the recent Elden Ring, a third-person roleplaying game with intense elements.

However, Musk’s aversion to the depiction of violence against police officers in GTA raised eyebrows, especially given his own history of using strong rhetoric.

In 2020, he made a threatening statement about a “coup” to obtain lithium for Tesla, and last month, he expressed hostility towards his perceived enemies.

Critics on social media called out Musk’s inconsistency, highlighting various controversies surrounding him, such as spreading conspiracy theories, engaging in questionable workplace practices, and facing legal issues in multiple countries.

Some suggested that Musk’s statement might be an attempt to align with a certain political stance.

As Musk continues to make headlines, it appears that his recent focus on Twitter has led to increased scrutiny and criticism from various quarters.
