Elon Musk says he has no mercy for such people – Times of India

Elon Musk has categorically refused the demand to reinstate Alex Jones. Jones is an American far-right radio show host and conspiracy theorist. “My firstborn child died in my arms. I felt his last heartbeat. I have no mercy for anyone who would use the deaths of children for gain, politics or fame,” wrote Musk in response to demands to bring Jones back on Twitter. In an earlier tweet on Jones, he said, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven,” quoting a verse from the Bible. Musk has been facing pressure to bring him back after Twitter removed the ban on the former US President Donald Trump.
Musk has been facing requests from people belonging to far right groups to remove the ban on Jones. “Is it time to let Alex Jones back on Twitter, @elonmusk ? If not, why not?” tweeted author Sam Harris. “Alex fucked up with Sandy Hook. He admitted that and apologized. He also got a lot of “conspiracy theories” right. If serial liars like Biden and Trump are allowed on Twitter then Alex Jones should be allowed too. Please reconsider in the interest of real free speech,” wrote Kim Dotcom, tagging Harris and Musk.

Why the ban on Alex Jones
A jury in the US state of Connecticut last month ordered Jones to pay $965 million in damages to the family members of victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Jones was sued by the families of victims after he claimed that the shooting on December 14, 2012, at the school in Newton, Connecticut, was a hoax staged by US authorities to impose gun control measures. The shooting at the US school had left 20 children aged six to seven and six adults dead. He later accepted that the attack was “100 percent real”.
Musk terms fighting child sexual exploitation on Twitter as top priority
Musk has also reportedly started addressing the issue of content related to child sexual exploitation on Twitter. Eliza Bleu, a human trafficking survivor advocate, said that after years of inactivity, it seems that Twitter is waking up to the challenge of tackling content related to child sexual exploitation on its platform. She said this in an interview to Tesmanian. Replying to a tweet about her interview, Musk termed this as his #1 priority.

Eliza has shared screenshots of Twitter’s child protection policy to highlight the same.
