Embark Studios Will Launch Project Discovery Before ARC Raiders

Project Discovery, a team-based first-person shooter that was teased by Embark Studios last year, is now closer to launch than ARC Raiders, an already announced third-person co-op game that was supposed to be out in 2022 before a recent delay to 2023.

Patrick Soderlund, the CEO of Embark Studios revealed that they have decided to launch Project Discovery earlier than ARC Raiders as the development process for the former has been going ahead faster than expected.

Project Discovery is yet to be officially revealed with a proper name, but the developers have been working on it along with ARC Raiders, and instead of launching both titles simultaneously, the team has decided to push ARC Raiders back to next year and add a new PvP mode to the game as well.

ARC Raiders was revealed as a cooperative-based PvE experience during The Game Awards 2021, but the developers are now trying to expand the experience by adding a PvP option as well. As Soderlund reveals, ARC Raiders still remains the most ambitious project for Embark Studios.

According to the CEO of the studio, we are about to get a full announcement of Project Discovery very soon. While there is no official information on when this could happen, we can probably expect the game to be unveiled at Gamescom 2022’s Opening Night Live showcase that goes live later this month.

It is yet to be known when Project Discovery will be available and what platforms it is supposed to head to, but regarding the tone of the blog post by Patrick Soderlund, it seems like the game will be coming out later this year to replace ARC Raiders.

There is no information at the moment on whether Project Discovery would be a competitive PvP or a PvPvE experience, but looking at the game’s first teaser, it looks like Project Discovery is a hero-based shooter featuring both long-range and melee weapons.

Hopefully, it won’t be too long until we figure out the answers to our burning questions about Project Discovery. This is going to be the very first game from Patrick Soderlund and his team of former EA veterans after quitting DICE.
