HIGHLIGHTS

  • Only 73 overs could be bowled on Day 1 of the Test match
  • It will be slightly cloudy on Day four of the Test match
  • England batting was interrupted by rain

It could turn out to be a brilliant day for batting at the Edgbaston cricket ground in Birmingham with minimal chances of rain interruption on Day four of the fifth Test match between England and India.

The visiting side is at a strong position, leading the hosts by a mammoth margin of 257 runs. With Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara batting together, India have the ideal combination of fire and ice to counter the English attack on a day where the ball might not swing a lot. The early hours of the day is expected to have cloud cover, however, the rest of the day should most remain quite pleasant with sun peeking out through the clouds after lunch.

This would not sit very well with England, who have been found ineffective in the first innings of the game against counter-attacking innings from Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah.

India have a tall batting order after these two, led by Shreyas Iyer, who would be looking to make amends for his mistakes from the first innings.
The meteorological department data of the United Kingdom suggests that the wind if going to be below 10kmph and the chances of rain is going to remain below 10 per cent throughout the day.

England still need seven wickets to dismantle the Indian batting line-up and will hope to unleash full wrath of Bazball whenever they come out to bat next time around in the Test match.
