Jadeja is turning out to be the crisis man for India. The limelight has been mostly on Rishabh Pant, but Jadeja has also been delivering the goods with the bat on a consistent basis. The Indian dressing room was on its feet when Jadeja did his trademark sword celebration. Jadeja became only the fourth Indian cricketer after Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh to score two Test hundreds in a calendar year while batting at No.7 or lower.

Two Test 100s in a calendar year for India batting #7 or lower:

Kapil Dev in 1986
MS Dhoni in 2009
Harbhajan Singh in 2010
Ravindra Jadeja in 2022 *

Jadeja was making a comeback after almost two months. The World No.1 Test all-rounder was preferred over star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the playing XI and he has justified the trust shown in him by playing an important knock. He had a poor IPL 2022 season with Chennai Super Kings, but on his return to India, he started from where he last left off against Sri Lanka in March.
