Notice: amp_is_available was called incorrectly. `amp_is_available()` (or `amp_is_request()`, formerly `is_amp_endpoint()`) was called too early and so it will not work properly. WordPress is currently doing the `pre_get_posts` hook. Calling this function before the `wp` action means it will not have access to `WP_Query` and the queried object to determine if it is an AMP response, thus neither the `amp_skip_post()` filter nor the AMP enabled toggle will be considered. It appears the theme with slug `publisher` is responsible; please contact the author. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. Tune into the SFD Facebook page from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. as we highlight the many different jobs Seattle firefighters hold and the special training needed to become a Deckhand, Engineer, Pilot or Fire Boat Captain, as well as what it takes to become a Rescue Swimmer, a Seattle Medic and more.

This year’s virtual event marks two noteworthy developments in Seattle’s history – the 132nd anniversary of the Great Seattle Fire and the 50th anniversary of Seattle Medic One.

Why it matters: While the 1889 fire destroyed Seattle’s central downtown, it also led to the professional firefighting force we see today. In 1971, Seattle Fire was one of the first departments in the nation to expand its emergency medical services to include specially trained paramedics, capable of performing advanced life support services in the field.

Building on these advancements is sure to draw the interest of those currently pursuing a firefighting career as well as young firefighters-to-be, the traditional audience of our partnership with the Seattle Museum of History & Industry.

Tune in for these exciting highlights:
