Firefighters battle a 2-Alarm marina fire in the Westlake neighborhood – Fire Line

SEATTLE — Aug. 5 at 11:05 p.m., the Seattle Fire Department’s Fire Alarm Center received 911 calls reporting a houseboat on fire docked near the 2000 block of Westlake Ave N. Seattle Police Department’s Harbor Patrol was also dispatched to the scene.

Engines 9, 2 and Ladder 4 were the first units on scene and they confirmed a well-involved houseboat fire docked at a marina with exposures to another houseboat and two smaller boats docked nearby. Firefighters quickly evacuated residents at the marina as a safety precaution. Limited walkways and low weight limits of the floating dock were a unique challenge for our crews as they worked to get the fire under control. For safety, our rescue swimmers were on scene in case any one fell into the water. Harbor Patrol also helped in pouring water on the fire from their vantage point.

Firefighters searched all impacted vessels to confirm no one was inside. The fire was extinguished by 12:25 a.m., and a few units remained on scene overnight for fire watch. No injuries were reported, and the incident is currently under investigation.
