Florence Lao appointed General Counsel and Board Secretary at Deezer – Music Business Worldwide

France-born music streaming service Deezer has appointed Florence Lao as General Counsel and Board Secretary, effective July 1, 2023.

Lao joins the Deezer executive team in Paris, reporting directly to the CEO, Jeronimo Folgueira.

As General Counsel, Lao’s remit covers legal, compliance, governance, M&A, financing and insurance for the group.

As Board secretary, she will collaborate closely with the Chairwoman of the Board, Iris Knobloch.

Lao brings over 15 years of experience as an international business lawyer, starting at Latham & Watkins.

She later became Deputy General Counsel at Artemis, focusing on M&A and financing transactions. At SMCP, she served as Group General Counsel, overseeing legal matters and participating in the 2017 IPO on Euronext Paris.

Prior to joining Deezer, Lao was Group General Counsel at Adisseo, responsible for legal, compliance, governance, M&A, financing, insurance, internal audit, and risk functions. She was also a member of the Adisseo Sustainability Committee.

In addition to the appointment of a General Counsel, Deezer has also recently appointed Quentin Lambert as Chief Strategy Officer reporting directly to the CEO, Jeronimo Folgueira.

With nearly 10 years of experience from leading strategy and M&A projects at McKinsey, Lambert joins Deezer to support strategic decision-making, and explore what new opportunities can be brought to the company.
