Give Up Fried Namkeen, Make Roasted Poha Chivda Instead For A Guilt-Free Snack

The festive season is upon us, with many celebrations lined up back-to-back. During this period, we end up binging on sweets and festive treats due to which excess calories may pile up in the body. Fried namkeens and chips can also be quite unhealthy and lead to weight gain, which is why it is important to keep a check on what we’re eating. We have found a yummy roasted snack you can make at home for a guilt-free treat. This Poha Chivda is simple, quick, delicious, and absolutely healthy!

Chivda refers to any snack mix made with roasted grains, dried fruits, and nuts. We have usually seen Chivda made from ingredients such as Murmura (puffed rice) or even Makhana (foxnuts). This Poha Chivda, however, is a class apart from your usual recipes as it uses Poha or flattened rice in its making. It is popularly consumed in Maharashtra, where Poha is one of the staple breakfast items.

How To Make Poha Chivda | Easy Poha Chivda Snack Recipe

Start by roasting the Poha in a pan until the colour changes to light brown. Keep it aside. Now, prepare the tadka for the Poha Chivda. Add curry leaves, mustard seeds, green chillies, hing and turmeric powder to some hot oil. Mix in a pinch of sugar and salt, and let everything blend together. Now, add a squirt of lemon juice and keep stirring continuously to keep the tadka from burning. Add the roasted Poha and dried fruits, as well as the Chana Dal. Mix well and enjoy guilt-free!
