Google Celebrates 23rd Birthday With Animated Chocolate Cake Doodle

Popular search engine Google celebrated its 23rd birthday on 27th September 2021. The occasion was marked by an animated doodle in the signature style of the tech giant. A quick visit to the Google homepage will show you the doodle, which features a chocolate cake covered with chocolate frosting and rainbow-coloured sprinkles. The number ’23’ was mentioned on top of the cake, and the candle of the cake replaces the letter ‘L’ in Google. The cake then becomes animated and takes off its top layer to bow in gratitude. Google was founded on 4th September 1998; however, founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin chose to celebrate the company’s official birthday on 27th September, since that was the iconic day that they announced the record number of pages that the company was indexing. The company is now one of the best-known search engines across the world helmed by Indian-origin CEO Sundar Pichai. Interestingly, Google will be offering special deals and discounts to customers in some European countries as a part of their 23rd birthday celebrations.

The tradition of making Google doodles started as early as August 1998, with the first one featuring the Burning Man festival. Since then, the Google doodle has become an iconic way of celebrating any event or happening across the world. Several doodles created by the tech giant feature happenings and achievements in the areas of food and health. Recently, Google had honoured Japanese chemist and researcher Michiyo Tsujimura for her in-depth study into the health benefits of green tea. Click here to read more about it.
