Google debuted the Home Mini smart speaker in 2017. Four years after the launch, the company has finally announced to retire the smart speaker. Starting today, Google will no longer sell the Home Mini through its official store.
As per a report by 9to5Google, Home Mini availability on the Google Store has switched to “No longer available.” Google Home Mini has already been replaced with a newer version, the Nest Mini. But Google was still selling it until recently.
Over the original Home Mini, Google Nest Mini comes with 2x stronger bass, a third far-field microphone, ultrasonic sensing to light up volume LEDs on nearby approaches, wall mounting, and a machine learning chip for faster, local processing of frequent commands. Home Mini offered a micro-USB port instead of a barrel plug connector.
In India, Google Home Mini was launched in April 2018. It was then priced at Rs 4,499 in the country. Currently, it is listed on e-commerce site Flipkart at Rs 2,745 with a discount of about 40%. The smart speaker comes with Google Assistant to answer to users’ queries and provide updates about weather, news and more. It also has a voice match feature that helps the speaker identify the voice of the users.
