Google Pixel users in India, your wait for 5G ends – Times of India

After much anticipation, the March Feature Drop has finally made its way to the Pixels. The first Pixel Feature Drop of 2023 arrives with the March security patch, as part of the Android 13 QPR2 update, after being delayed for a week. Apart from all the improvements, and bug fixes, the March Feature Drop brings 5G connectivity to Google Pixel smartphones in India.
The 5G support for Indian telecom operators was first enabled on Google Pixel with the Android 13 QPR beta back in January. Now, with the stable release of Android 13 QPR, the 5G connectivity is available to all the Pixel 7, 7 Pro and Pixel 6a users in India.
Google Pixel 7, 7 Pro and Pixel 6a get 5G connectivity in India
Google’s latest premium smartphones — Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro — offer support for 22 5G bands. The budget-friendly Pixel 6a in India has support for 19 5G bands.
The 5G support on the Pixel smartphones has been long awaited. With the update, Google Pixel becomes the last of the smartphones to join the 5G wagon in India, much after the Samsungs and iPhones were updated to support 5G connectivity in the country.
We checked for the 5G connectivity on our Pixel 7 Pro unit after updating to the March Feature drop, and we can find the 5G under the Preferred network type for both Airtel and Reliance Jio, which is also recommended.
The Airtel 5G seems to be working fine on our Pixel 7 Pro, while we are yet to check for the Jio 5G.
Asides from the 5G support on Pixel 7, 7 Pro and Pixel 6a, the March Pixel Feature Drop adds a slew of new features on older Pixels while also fixing some of the common bugs on the newer ones. The Pixel 6, and 6 Pro are receiving the improved Night Sight, which debuted with the Pixel 7 series, and also Direct Calls are coming to older Pixels.
