Google starts rolling out Dark mode for Search on desktop – Times of India

Google has been testing Dark mode for desktop search. Now it seems users’ wait is finally over. The search giant has started rolling out Dark Mode for Search on desktop. Dark mode is considered to easier on users’ eyes.
The support is rolling out slowly for both Windows 10 and macOS platforms and we were able to spot it on the latter with version 90.0.4430.212 (Official Build) (x86_64) of the Chrome browser running.
It appears to be a staggered rollout, so there are chances that not all Google Chrome users may see Dark mode yet.
The first time a user sees Dark mode, it comes with a message in a box on the search page that reads “Dark theme is now available.”
As you can see above, in the Dark Mode, the Google logo appears in White instead of being multi-coloured, whereas the microphone icon remains unchanged.
The process of switching from one theme to another is quite simple and easy as a shortcut appears on the left side of the screen, next to the Sign-in option.
Dark mode is among the most requested features by Android and iOS users for various apps and Google has been quite prompt to roll out support for the mode for most of its apps.
In February, Google announced that Google Maps app is getting Dark mode on Android. The night mode is meant to provide “your eyes a much-needed break” and help conserve battery life, the company said.
