Google to announce a new update for Wear OS at I/O 2021 – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Tech giant Google is all set to kick start its annual developer conference Google I/O 2021 today (May 18). The company is expected to announce its next OS at the event. It may also launch its custom processor and new devices like Pixel Buds, Pixel 5a and more.
However, just a few hours ahead of the conference, the company has teased an upcoming announcement. Google has confirmed that it will announce a long-awaited update for the Wear OS.
Confirming about the announcement, Google tweeted, “The time has come for #GoogleIO. Join us tomorrow for a look at what’s new on Wear OS.” The company is expected to bring a new virtual design to Wear OS.

Recently, Google was also conducting an online survey on Wear OS. In the survey the company was asking users how satisfied they are with Wear OS.
Apart from this, rumours also suggest Samsung is planning to ditch its in-house Tizen OS this time. The company is planning to go with the Wear OS for its upcoming smartwatches. On the other hand, Google is also said to be working on its own smartwatch likely to be called Pixel Watch.
Pixel Watch is expected to sport a circular dial and is said to come in Silver and Black colour options. The wearable is said to pack the company’s own custom chip and if not that, the smartwatch might come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset. The Pixel Watch is also said to come with a blood oxygen monitor and sleep tracking functionality.
The Google I/O 2021 will begin at 10.30 pm (IST) today and you can watch the live stream of the event by going to the company’s YouTube channel. Users can also participate in Q&A, AMAs, workshops and other sessions. To do so, they will have to register on the Google I/O site.
