Google is putting its Chrome web browser users on high alert again. It comes only a few weeks after Chrome users were warned that they had to update their browser to patch a serious vulnerability in the popular software. And now, the same thing has happened again. Google has discovered another dangerous glitch and that means users must, once again, head to the settings menu hit that update button.

What makes this so serious is the threat, which has just been revealed on Google’s Chrome release page, has already been exploited in the wild by hackers. Since it’s a known flaw, cyber criminals will be sharing information about how to use it to steal data, payment information, or more. Thankfully, Google has a fix, but it’s really important that users take the warning seriously and update their browser without delay.

Explaining more, Google said: “Google is aware of reports that an exploit for CVE-2021-21193 exists in the wild. We would like to thank all security researchers that worked with us during the development cycle to prevent security bugs from ever reaching the stable channel.”

A total of five bug fixes are featured in this latest release from Google with a number of these rated at a “High” risk level.

If you have automatic updates switched on in Chrome then you should be safe but it’s worth checking that your browser is up to date. The latest and most secure version of Chrome is now called 89.0.4389.90 and is available across all platforms including Windows, Mac and Linux.
