Google’s Sleep Profile feature now available on Pixel Watch: What it means, benefits and other details – Times of India

Google unveiled the first Pixel watch at the ‘Made by Google event’ alongside the flagship Pixel 7 series. The tech giant recently rolled out an update to the Pixel Watch app that includes some Fitbit improvements. Google has officially confirmed that the Pixel Watch now supports the Sleep Profile feature on Fitbit Premium.
Earlier this year, Sense and Versa from Fitbit added the Sleep Profile support while the Pixel Watch was launched without this feature. Not just the Fitbit devices but, Fitbit Premium members can also access the Sleep Profile in the Fitbit app on Google Pixel Watch.
“After a decade of analyzing over 22 billion hours of sleep data and 1.87 million sleep logs, we wanted to share what we have found to not only help you learn more about your sleep but give you the information and tools to make it better,” Google said in a blog post.

How does this feature work
The Sleep Profile feature categorises the sleep habit of the user into one among various sleep patterns, where all types of sleep are symbolised by an animal. It is built using the user’s sleep data with 10 different types of sleep that include– duration, consistency of hours, and disrupted sleep among others.
Users will be given detailed sleep data and habits on the basis of monthly analysis like sleep routine, activities affecting their sleep and how to improve it to get a sound sleep, Google added.
“Since it launched earlier this year, we’ve released 6.35 million profiles to our users, showing us some interesting trends (July-November 2022). People who use Sleep Profile are most successful at hitting the ideal range of “Time Before Sound Sleep” (52%), REM sleep (49.7%) and deep sleep (49.5%). But they are the least successful at hitting the ideal range of “Nights with Long Awakenings” and “Sleep Schedule Variability” (14.6% and 23.2% respectively). The most common areas of improvement are Days with Naps (61.2%), Sleep Schedule Variability (52.7%) and Restorative Sleep (45.6%),” Google said in a blog post.

It is important to note that the Sleep Profile feature even on the Google Pixel Watch requires Fitbit Premium. The subscription charges are $10/month which gives more information about the user’s health and fitness. Here are some of the features Premium subscribers can take a look at:
