HarbourView buys Big Loud Mountain Music’s publisher share of songs from Florida Georgia Line catalog – Music Business Worldwide

HarbourView Equity Partners has acquired Big Loud Mountain Music’s publisher share of select songs from country music duo Florida Georgia Line’s catalog.

Big Loud Mountain Music is a Nashville-based independent publishing, management, and production company.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

HarbourView says that Big Loud Mountain Music “is credited as a key player in helping to successfully launch Florida Georgia Line’s career”.

The company’s roster of artists include Chris Lane, Madison Kozak, Ernest Keith Smith, Sean Stemaly, Griffen Palmer, Tiera, John Byron, Jacob Durrett, Mark Holman, Mark Trussell, Rocky Block, Jordan Dozzi, Jake Worthington, Grady Block, Lauren Watkins, and Ashley Cooke.

The deal with HarbourView will see it acquiring Big Loud’s publisher share of some of Florida Georgia Line’s long list of hit songs.

The American Country music duo, formed in 2010 by Grammy-nominated pair Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, is behind the hit songs Meant to Be, You’re Country, and Simple.

Florida Georgia Line have sold over 26 million tracks and 3.5 million albums over the course of their career and received a number of accolades including RIAA‘s Diamond certification to celebrate 10 million sold copies of hit Cruise.

They also held the longest spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for 50 straight weeks.

Florida Georgia Line’s list of awards and nominations include the Billboard Music Award for Top Country Song, ACM Award for Duo of the Year, and Billboard Music Award for Top Country Artist.

The pair eventually launched their own music label, Round Here Records, in 2019, signing artists like Canaan Smith and RaeLynn.

Separately, Billboard reported on September 16 that HarbourView has also acquired Usher’s interest in RBMG Records, the label that signed Justin Bieber in 2008.

RMBG was co-founded by cooter Braun‘s Schoolboy Records and Usher in 2008. Sources told Billboard that HarbourView acquired Usher’s entire interest in RMBG for nearly $40 million. The sources added that the figure would have been much higher if Bieber had not taken an advance against the catalog in recent years.

The latest deals came over a month after HarbourView acquired the publishing catalogs of multi-Grammy award-winning country music artists Lady A and Brad Paisley.

The investment firm did not disclose the size of the transactions, but according to Bloomberg at the time, Paisley sold his music for $25 million.

HarbourView was founded less than a year ago by former Tempo Music CEO, Sherrese Clarke Soares, with backing from Apollo Global Management. The firm has acquired nearly 40 catalogs since its establishment.

HarbourView, on its website, says it has up to $1 billion of investable capital.

Its roster now also includes rock band Hollywood Undead, multi-GRammy Award winning duo Dre & Vidal and Latin music superstar Luis Fonsi.
