Hope Mo Salah goes back to being the player he was before he went to the Africa Cup of Nations, says Liverpool legend David James | Football News – Times of India

Liverpool FC are eyeing an unprecedented quadruple – something that has never been done before in English football. The Reds already have the League Cup title under their belt this season and are in contention for the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup titles as well.
Of course, it will take a herculean effort and also lots of luck (especially in the Premier League, where they are neck and neck with Manchester City) to be able to do the unthinkable. But in Jurgen Klopp, the team has a manager who believes. And that belief and practical approach of taking it a game at a time, while planning for the next two that are coming up has rubbed off on his team as well. There is no doubt that Liverpool are a behemoth of a football team, in terms of their ability to crush opposition teams currently. There have been the occasional slip-ups, but the Reds are the team to beat, especially in the Champions League – where other European teams are also in contention.
Liverpool legend David James, who played over 200 matches for the Reds, along with almost a 10 games for Manchester City, apart from representing other English clubs like Watford, Portsmouth, West Ham United and others, was a guest on Times of India’s sports podcast – Sportscast recently, before the semi-final round of the Champions League kicked-off and talked about Liverpool’s chances of completing the quadruple and much more.
The one thing he stressed on was for Mo Salah to find his magic touch again.
The one thing that I am hoping for all the Liverpool fans listening is that Mo Salah – maybe he sits down in a coffee shop, has a little chat with himself and gets back to the Mo Salah before he went out to the Africa Cup of Nations. Because that guy would not only score, but he would give the assist and Liverpool would become just an even bigger monster. I am confident that he will get back to it and put Liverpool in a position to – well the quadruple would be absolutely amazing, if tough, but at least get to that final, Champions League final. And then Mo Salah will have something to cheer about at the end of the season, David James said on TOI Sportscast.
Liverpool beat Benfica 6-4 on aggregate in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, despite a high scoring 3-3 draw in the second leg.
They take on Villarreal in the semis, with the first leg scheduled to be played at the Anfield stadium, with kick-off at 12:30 am Thursday morning, India time.
Liverpool have come up against Villarreal once before – in the 2015-16 Europa League semis – where the Reds won the tie 3-1 on aggregate.
