Apple has made an important update to its recommendations and guidelines for cleaning iPhones. In a support page titled ‘How to clean your Apple products’, the company has asked users not to use products containing bleach or Hydrogen Peroxide.
According to a report in Cult of Mac, Apple has added Hydrogen Peroxide to the list of chemicals that users need to avoid. The warning previously listed bleach only. Apple announced that iPhone users can use Clorox disinfecting wipes on their handsets in March 2020 just as the Covid-19 pandemic started to spread globally.

The company specifically answers if users should use a disinfectant on their Apple device on the support page. “Using a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipe, 75 percent ethyl alcohol wipe, or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, you may gently wipe the hard, nonporous surfaces of your Apple product, such as the display, keyboard, or other exterior surfaces. Don’t use products containing bleach or hydrogen peroxide,” says Apple.
Usage of aerosol sprays and abrasives too are big No from the company. Apple also adds that users should avoid getting moisture in any opening. The company warns users not to submerge their Apple product in any cleaning agents. It also asks users to always unplug an iPhone before cleaning it to avoid shock. As for the material to clean your phone, Apple wants you to use a soft cloth instead of a paper towel as the latter may be abrasive to rub down an iPhone. Also, never spray cleaners directly onto your Apple device. Always put them on a cloth or a cloth towel before applying them on your device.
