India registered a unique record on day four of the second Test against the West Indies by scoring the fastest ever team hundred.

The opening pair of captain Rohit Sharma (57 off 44 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (38 off 30 balls) added 98 runs in 11.5 overs in India’s second innings on Sunday, after which the visitors reached the 100-run mark in 12.2 overs (74 balls) to break the 22-year-record held by Sri Lanka.

During the Asian Test Championship in 2001, Sri Lanka reached 100 in 13.2 overs (80 balls) against Bangladesh.

India went on to declare their second innings at 181/2 to set the hosts a target of 365 to win. Shubman Gill (29*) and Ishan Kishan (52* off 34) were at the crease when India declared.
Wes Indies were 76/2 at stumps and will need to score 289 runs more on the last day to win and level the series.
Earlier, in reply to India’s first-innings total of 438, WI were bowled out for 255.
