Internet outage: All 34 of the WORST affected websites by global crash

A number of websites have crashed on Tuesday morning, with the affected websites displaying a message reading: “Error 503 Service Unavailable.” Websites, including those of leading media organisations such as the Guardian, Financial Times, Independent and New York Times, aren’t currently working for users. Early reports suggest it could be related to Fastly, a cloud computing provider which underpins a number of major websites.

People took to social media to air their grievances about the internet crash.

One person wrote: “So who’s just unplugged the internet?”

Another said: “What’s up with the major website crash? #amazon”

One more person wrote: “All the websites people say are down are working fine for me. The internet crash must be affecting some regions worse than others.”

Almost 21,000 Reddit users have reported issues with the social media platform, while more than 2,000 users said they can’t access Amazon.

Sergio Loureiro, Cloud Security Director at OutPost 24 said: “This global outage that affects many high profile companies does highlight the dependency we have on cloud services and their availability.

“This directly impacts many businesses, including for example Reddit who’s entire business is based around their website.”

Some websites, including the BBC, have been able to restore services in the last few minutes by switching their network away from Fastly’s network.
