iphone: Apple may launch a cheaper iPhone next year with 4.7-inch display – Times of India

Apple is not just giving up on small screen phones and if rumours are to be believed then Apple is reportedly going to launch a cheaper iPhone next year in the form of “iPhone SE Plus”. Having said that, the display size of the “iPhone SE Plus” will be 4.7-inch and not anything plus sized. Apple is said to be using an LCD display for this phone to keep costs down.
Recent report did hnt at Apple preparing for the launch of another iPhone with 4.7-inch display and new information from display analyst Ross Young seems to be on track with the expectations. Apart from the display size and a smaller battery, Apple will most like offer its newest chipset along with support for 5G.
If you are wondering what’s the “Plus” in the upcoming iPhone SE then it is most likely Apple’s way of hinting at faster speeds due to better chipset and 5G connectivity. Apple had earlier used the “Plus” to highlight a bigger display, like with the iPhone 7 plus and 8 Plus but later the “Plus” monker was dropped and was replaced by Pro Max.
Recently, a report by Chinese publication MyDrivers claimed that iPhone SE 3 will be the company’s last model to feature a LCD. The report further suggests that the smartphone will look similar to the iPhone XR which was launched back in 2018. WIth that form factor, it is easy to assume that the company is planning to phase out the Touch ID feature completely.
All reports point out to the fact that there will be a new 4.7-inch iPhone from Apple next year. But there is little information about what the device will be named. Some reports claim that it may be called iPhone SE 3 and will replace the ‘mini’ smartphone in the iPhone 14 lineup.
