iPhone users may get a new Disappearing mode on WhatsApp – Times of India

Instant messaging app WhatsApp has been spotted working on a new feature — called the Disappearing Mode — for iOS users that focuses on privacy.
Spotted by WABetaInfo, the online platform that tracks the upcoming changes and features of WhatsApp, this feature is not yet available for the public but may be rolled out soon.
According to the website, when this feature is enabled, it will allow users to send disappearing messages with new chats.

This is because the platform already offers support for enabling disappearing messages with a chat, but that is only after the chat has already started. This can be done via Contact/Group Info > Disappearing Messages.
The upcoming Disappearing Mode support will be added under app Settings > Privacy.
Right now, the Disappearing Message functionality offers support for vanishing the messages after 7 days. However, there have been reports of WhatsApp working on offering support for 24 hours as a disappearing messages window too.
This was spotted last month by WABetaInfo, who claimed that this feature will be rolled out to iOS, Android and Web/Desktop through a future update.
The 24 hours life of a message is expected to be added to the disappearing messages section where currently you get ‘on’ or ‘off’ options that sets the default setting of disappearing messages to 7 days.
