KISS to become knowledge, logistical hub of FIFA’s ‘Football For School’ initiative – Times of India

BHUBANESWAR: Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Bhubaneswar will act as knowledge and logistical hub for ‘Football for School (F4S)’ initiative of the worldwide football governing body FIFA. A letter of intent has been signed in this regard between Youri Djorkaeff, CEO of the FIFA Foundation, and Achyuta Samanta, founder of KISS.

F4S is FIFA’s world-wide programme to contribute to the education, development and empowerment of children across the globe. According to the proposal, KISS will function as knowledge hubs for F4S training, and logistical hubs for F4S ball distribution, said the official sources.

A statement issued from the KISS said the letter of intent document broadly sets out terms for both entities to commit to investigating avenues of opportunity together- particularly concerning the extension of the F4S programme, which is already active across ten FIFA Member Associations.
“FIFA’s latest step will give a further boost to its ties with KISS and strengthen cooperation in the F4S programme in Odisha, besides exploring opportunities to expand it across India and South Asia,” said the statement.

The football governing body has selected KISS as the nodal agency for the promotion of football. In October last year, KISS had announced the launch of India’s first-ever FIFA Football for School Programme in association with FIFA.

“It is with great pride and excitement that we signed this letter of intent with the KISS. FIFA Foundation’s Football for Schools programme was launched to positively impact the lives of 700 million children,” said Djorkaeff at Zurich in Switzerland on Wednesday.

Samanta while signing the letter of intent expressed his happiness over strengthening the collaboration with FIFA. “Football is the global game, and we have already seen the power it has to unite, inspire, and educate in every corner of the world through the work already done by this programme. Our collaboration will help enhance that further,” he added.

He said the F4S programme is active in South America, Africa, East Asia, the Caribbean, and the Arab world. “The partnership between us and FIFA is the next step on the journey in India and South Asia,” said Samanta.

Swiss member of parliament Niklaus Samuel Gugger is the global ambassador of KISS.
