HIGHLIGHTS

  • On Tuesday, Kohli scored his fourth golden duck in the IPL
  • Kohli got out to fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera
  • Kohli has now played 100 matches without a century

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli hasn’t been going through the best of form as a batter. The 33-year-old is yet to score a fifty in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) and has looked far from his very best. The Delhi-born batter has scored 119 runs from seven games at an average of 19.83 and a strike rate of 123.95.

His top score of 48 came against the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) where South African youngster Dewald Brevis accounted for his wicket. Former Indian cricketer, Wasim Jaffer, in the meantime, posted a hilarious picture to demonstrate Kohli’s lean pitch at top-level cricket.

Jaffer, also the all-time leading run-scorer in the Ranji Trophy, captioned the picture and wrote, “Virat Kohli’s luck these days: #LSGvRCB #IPL2022.”

Virat Kohli struggling

On Tuesday, April 19, Kohli got out for a golden duck during RCB’s match against KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. Sri Lankan fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera bowled a short of a length delivery outside the off-stump. But all Kohli could do was hit the ball straight to Deepak Hooda at backward point.

After getting out, Kohli was dejected and had a wry smile on his face. It was also the fourth golden duck that he got in the history of the T20 league. Kohli also completed 100 matches without scoring a century. The veteran last got to the three-figure mark during India’s Day-Night Test against Bangladesh back in 2019 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
