Maria Sharapova announces the arrival of baby boy – The most beautiful, challenging, and rewarding gift

Former world no.1 Maria Sharapova, on Friday, July 15, announced the arrival of her baby boy, Theodore. Back in April, the 35-year-old revealed that she was set to embrace motherhood with fiancé Alexander Gilkes. She had made the announcement on the occasion of her 35th birthday.

On Saturday, the veteran posted an adorable picture where she can be seen adorably holding her baby along with her boyfriend. The date of his son’s birthday, July 1, 2022, was also mentioned in her post.

She captioned the picture and wrote, “The most beautiful, challenging, and rewarding gift our little family could ask for.”

Back in February, Sharapova bid adieu to tennis after winning five major titles. She has won every grand slam at least once and stayed as long as 21 weeks on top of the WTA rankings.

Sharapova has won five Grand Slams in her career and is the only Russian woman to achieve the career Grand Slam. She won Wimbledon in 2004, after which she came up trumps in the US Open in 2006.

Thereafter, Sharapova won the Australian Open in 2008 and finished with two French Open titles in 2012 and 2014. She also won the silver medal in the women’s singles at the 2012 Olympics in London.

After becoming the world no.1 for the first time at the age of 18, there was no stopping Sharapova. Apart from the singles titles, she also won three doubles titles.

After calling it a day from the sport, Sharapova made the announcement of her engagement to Gilkes, a British businessman, in December 2020.

On her birthday while announcing her pregnancy, Sharapova wrote, “Precious beginnings!!! Eating birthday cake for two has always been my specialty.”
