Navigating loneliness and love in lockdown
And while romance still seems elusive, there is something comforting in seeing another person’s humanity during this vulnerable time. We are all hungering for human contact, and if that means virtual dating right now, I’ll take it.
I don’t know if anything will come out of it or if we’ll even see each other when lockdown eventually ends. But perhaps, there is comfort in remaining hopeful I’d find love.
I don’t think it is healthy for a person to live alone without much social contact for a long time. But what’s a single girl to do? My creative stirrings are coaxing me to start a podcast or a YouTube channel, where I get to do what I do best – interviewing, connecting and telling people’s stories.
I am hungry for stimulating conversations that would feed my spirit. I sense this lockdown will go on for another month, maybe two, who knows. In the meantime, I remind myself each day to be gentle with myself. I treat myself to good meals. I indulge in treats.
I allow myself to rest when I am tired or overwhelmed, and to just start over the next day. I am treating myself with kindness.
