New Zealand have dismissed Sri Lanka for 164 and forced the tourists to follow on the second cricket test in Wellington.

Sri Lanka trail New Zealand’s first innings total of 580-4 declared, by 416 runs.

Sri Lanka started day three at the Basin Reserve at 26-2 and two lost two early wickets to be 34-4.

A fifth wicket stand of 80 between skipper Dimuth Kuranaratne and Dinesh Chandimal steady the ship, until Chandimal went for 37 with the score at 114.

The tourists then lost their last five wickets for 50 runs with Kuranaratne making 89.

Pace bowler Matt Henry and spinner Michael Bracewell were the most successful of the New Zealand bowlers taking three wickets each.

Henry finishing with figures of 3-44 and Bracewell 3-50.

New Zealand lead the two test series one-nil.
